La barca che Giacomo ha usato in questo viaggio, così come per Un Altro Po, è stata costruita dal suo amico, maestro d’ascia Roland Poltock.
Progettata dal designer scozzese Iain Oughtred, Ness Yawl è lunga 5.6m, simile a quelle usate dai Vichinghi per navigare e dello stesso tipo tuttora utilizzato dai pescatori delle isole Shetland in Scozia.
Costruita in uno scafo in legno di mogano, con parziale sovrapposizione delle tavole che formano il fasciame in modo simile alle tegole di un tetto, è una barca leggera ma molto resistente al mare, ottima sia per veleggiare sia per remare.

Ti ho postato sul mio blog: avevo visto la tua barca su un numero di woodboat dell’aprile 2010 con un servizio dedicato a Iain Ouhghtred.
Poi ho sentito di “un altro po” e ho notato che era praticamente la stessa mano, la stessa filosofia. Infine ho visto il posto sul blog di woodenboat “My wooden boat of the week” e ho deciso di dedicare un angolo del mio blog alla tua impresa. Buona fortuna. Ti verrò a cercare sul web con regolarità.
